Description

Hello folks,

the 'if_em'-driver reports an EEPROM checksum error on load on my
thinkpad x60 and it doesn't give me an em-interface on dragonfly, netbsd
and a knoppix. With FreeBSD-CURRENT it does however, can't tell for
fbsd{5;6}.

Some FreeBSD people suggested using
'hw.pci.allow_unsupported_io_range="1"' in loader.conf should fix the
problem, but it doesn't. Yet on FreeBSD the driver complains, but the
interface gets set up and it's running as expected.

Joerg told me the 'em' driver should be the same on NetBSD and Dfly,
I've only looked at the part responsible for my error and to me it seems
the FBSD driver is the same too.

With recent update
(http://leaf.dragonflybsd.org/mailarchive/commits/2006-08/msg00069.html) the
problem is gone.
But it is said if cable is not plugged into NIC before em(4)'s attaching, em(4)
will not work properly ...
