Redmine DragonFlyBSD - Bug #2553 (Closed): Website navigation rework/pare-downhttps://bugs.dragonflybsd.org/issues/25532013-05-02T03:29:54Zsjg

Following pasted from IRC, feel free to attach additional commentary...

[21:22] <@ftigeot> I can't modify page.tmpl on leaf since I don't have permissions
[21:22] * ftigeot sets mode: +o sephe
[21:22] <@ftigeot> sephe: it's for firewire devices (disks at least)
[21:22] <thesjg> there's too much in the sidebar already
[21:22] * ftigeot sets mode: +o thesjg
[21:23] <@JustinS> what would you suggest removing?
[21:23] <@ftigeot> a two-level menu would be nice but the entire layout would have to be redone
[21:24] <@thesjg> Status, digest link could go, since its got another link on the page
[21:24] <@thesjg> bugs could move up under community
[21:24] <@ftigeot> aren't Download and Mirrors more or less the same thing ?
[21:24] <@JustinS> download has instructions
[21:24] <@thesjg> on the main page that is wrt digest
[21:24] <@JustinS> mirrors has sites
[21:25] <@thesjg> the docs section could go away entirely, could be a link to a docs landing page instead
[21:25] <@thesjg> with a short description of what each section/link contains
[21:26] <@thesjg> mascot and images could go, and could be linked to from a text section somewhere instead
[21:26] <@JustinS> that makes sense; I won't be getting to that tonight, though
[21:26] <@thesjg> that would axe about half of it and would be a good start
[21:27] <@thesjg> :)
[21:27] <@thesjg> i've thought about it a few times, but haven't gotten to it myself yet either
[21:27] <@JustinS> can you make a bug and assign me to it?
DragonFlyBSD - Bug #2483 (Closed): Panic on reboot after install from USB stick. 3.2.2-Rhttps://bugs.dragonflybsd.org/issues/24832013-01-08T02:14:24ZsjgDragonFlyBSD - Bug #2141 (New): loader and/or documentation brokenhttps://bugs.dragonflybsd.org/issues/21412011-10-09T14:15:29Zsjg

For example,

The ehci driver is automatically loaded upon boot. To disable this
behavior temporarily, the ehci_load variable can be unset at the loader
prompt (see loader(8)). To disable it permanently, the
hint.ehci.0.disabled tunable can be set to 1 in /boot/loader.conf.

But when operating from the loader prompt the ehci_load variable has no effect
at all, it seems to only be checked from the menu, which is useless if you are
operating from the prompt.

This is confusing at best, but I am leaning more towards steaming pile. The
loader or the documentation needs to be reworked.
DragonFlyBSD - Bug #2061 (New): USB keyboard boot panichttps://bugs.dragonflybsd.org/issues/20612011-05-02T15:09:26Zsjg

Since enabling ehci by default booting with my USB keyboard plugged in has
caused the box to panic almost every time (9 out of 10 or more), when it does
not panic the keyboard works. Prior to this (ohci only) the keyboard would not
work if plugged in during boot almost every time (9 out of 10 or more), but
would work fine every time if plugged in after boot. Plugging it in after boot
still works fine w/ ehci.

The panic in question is panic: ohci_add_done: addr 0x???????? not found, the
call stack includes ohci_intr().

It seems the ohci driver is servicing an interrupt and the conditions are right
to enter ohci_add_done(), but the ohci_hash_find_*'s are unsuccessful.

Adding kprintf's to ohci_hash_add_* and ohci_hash_rem_* cause the box to boot
with a working keyboard a much greater percentage of the time, seemingly
indicating a race / something timing related.
DragonFlyBSD - Bug #2011 (Closed): rtorrent on DF often fails with rtorrent: PollKQueue::modify()...https://bugs.dragonflybsd.org/issues/20112011-03-04T15:48:27Zsjg

http://gitweb.dragonflybsd.org/~sjg/dragonfly.git/commitdiff/caac5766643042650328f83531dc8fd767df5f60

The basic thought behind the new lwbuf api is that sf_buf's have been
abused more and more as time has passed for purposes that don't
necessarily match the original intent. Most uses of sf_bufs beyond
sendfile are exceedingly short-lived, short enough that they would be
better served by cpu-local caches of kvm space, even if that means a
bit of overlap now and again. lwbuf attempts to match the semantics of
xio, with one addition as suggested by Simon, a sanity check and tlb
invalidation in lwbuf_kva if the lwbuf strays to some other cpu.
Currently lwbuf allocates a page of kvm at a time on objcache object
construction and stores the kvm with the object in objcache when it is
returned to the cache.

sf_bufs, which are still most applicable to sendfile, have been
simplified on top of the lwbuf api, converted to objcache and the
global hash has been protected with a spinlock.

XIO and exec have been modified to use lwbuf's.

Please comment/hate/review/test
