got the error to try compiling with -fPIC when building on amd64 release so I ask please add the following to the pkgsrc Makefile around line #59 CFLAGS.DragonFly= -fPIC alongside the similar lines for netbsd, linux, sunOS unless there's something terribly wrong with that idea, and you have a better solution....
