Bug #2537
Updated by tuxillo almost 11 years ago
I thought I would take Dragon Fly BSD for a drive on my AMD FX8120, ASUS M5A97 EVO, Radeon 7950, 16GB unbuffered ECC. I tried to run live from the CD but 'startx' would not launch xorg. So I installed anyway after seeing the graphical installer. After installation it appears xdm is installed but startx will not start xorg. "Xoeg -configure" then "Xorg -config /root/xorg.conf.new -retro" produces a beautiful crosshatch and moving mouse. So I installed kde-desktop-4.8.4 after I placed "RCD_SCRIPTS_DIR=?/etc/rc.d" and "PKG_RCD_SCRIPTS=YES" in the top endif in /usr/pkg/etc/mk.conf I have added "kdm4_enable="YES" to /etc/rc.conf I have written "echo "exec startkde" ~/.initrc" Then I have correct ttyv8 to "/usr/pkg/bin/kdm -nodaemon" xterm on secure" Usually my message from my machine is cannot start xorg or /usr/etc/X Then I got a message that kdm will not start because another instance of xdm is running. I was of course following the recipe in your online handbook. Just thought you might want to know.
