Description

I am creating this issue to help the CARP patch getting committed (since I am
going to need it soon). It applies cleanly against the 1.10 source tree. The
patched source tree is being built now. More details will follow.

It looks fairly clean to me but I am no expert on the concept. What
do other people think?
