Description

I'm using DF 4.4.1 with radeonkms, my videocard is radeon 7750. When I disable 2D acceleration in xorg.conf then output is correct, but when I enable it I see garbage, the more applications is run the more garbage I see, letters in gtk2/3 applications are broken, icons are black.

It depends on number of application started, i.e. when I use startx (twm + 3 xterm) and start 1 gtk application then it has only icons broken, qt applications are clean, but I use startxfce then everything is broken.

It does not matter what 3D (mesa) driver is used, radeonsi or llvmpipe.

  • Assignee set to ftigeot

Going to assign to ftigeot. I also see similar corruption when e.g. running qemu-system-x86_64 (from the qemu-devel package). No arguments necessary (don't even need an image). It creates a window under X for the emulation and various buttons have broken graphics. From that point onward window title bars start to break and xterm fonts start to break, getting progressively worse over time.

In my case it's i915 haswell. Everything else works including accelerated video and numerous opengl applications.

We currently do not know what the cause is but it is at the top of our list of things to track down.

Today I've upgraded Mesa port (among other ports) to 11.0.8 version and things got much better, now I have proper letters, only icons are broken in gtk2 apps. Evince (gtk3 app) had no problem (maybe I should test it or other gtk3 apps more). Qt apps still have problems.

Maybe I was too optimistic, seamonkey renders garbage on linuxquestions.org
