Bug #324
closedNo sound on ICH4 when snd_ich loaded after acpi on T41p
0%
Description
I've just installed 1.6.1 on an IBM T41p (type 2373), and sound doesn't work
if snd_ich.ko is loaded after acpi.ko.
If I boot the system normally, then load snd_ich.ko, the module loads, but
nothing is registered to dmesg, and the contents of /dev/sndstat are:
FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm)
    Installed devices:And that's it. If I load snd_ich.ko via loader.conf, I get full sound
without issue (see attachments for details). However, if I remove
snd_ich.ko and snd_pcm.ko, then reload them, I see the same as before: they
load, but register nothing to dmesg, and nothing shows up in /dev/sndstat.

The same things happens to me, and has been happening for a while. I
am not sure what version it started (seems after 1.4), but it worked
before. I have not had much time to investigate it. swildner helped me
with it on IRC. It happens on my work box, which I don't have access
to at the moment, but I can provide details later if needed.

I'm not sure. I no longer have a T41p to test on.

I'm confirming that this was fixed. (Works with today's build)
