Petr, does sephe's patch (http://leaf.dragonflybsd.org/~sephe/bcm5906.diff) work
for you?
I am still wondering, are there ways around it? What could other operating
systems do to fix this? (ie WIndows) Perhaps i should try booting Linux and
see if it gets detected.

I don't think Petr could test the patch (and the patch itself is not
complete), since the PCI bridge before the PCI bus on which the bge
resides, closes the IO memory window. We tried several way to open
it, but all failed.
