Bug #1957
closedmirror-master.dragonflybsd.org offline
0%
Description
rsync, http and ftp are not working on the mirror-master at the moment. I also
can't reach the system via icmp. ftp.dragonflybsd.org seems to be offline, too.
I think you now about this problem, but I didn't find an open issue in your
bugsystem.
Setting priority to critical.
HTH, Christian.

:HTH, Christian.
Sorry, I totally meant to post about this. Avalon (which is the
mirror-master) is being moved. It was a short-notice thing. We
may be using this opportunity to upgrade it as well. For now it
is offline. I don't have a timeframe for it coming back yet.

Avalon is currently in-transit back to the colo after being seriously
upgraded with new drives and a SSD. It will probably be Monday before
it is up again.
I know this is a bit of an inconvenience. The package sets are
available on the mirrors. Package and snapshot building will resume
next week. Upgrading Avalon now (mid-way between releases) is a pretty
good time to do it despite the annoyance.

Something different needs to be done in the future in terms of the hostnames
we ship in the makefiles, or the mirror organization, or a procedure for dns
changes, or documentation of the mirrors, or something. We do not overtly
document the procedures to switch mirrors for src/pkgsrc and besides, it
should not have been necessary in this case. All of our users who do not
know git have been unable to upgrade anything for the last week.
