Description

While attempting to reload a huge table (about 300k entries), my network
locks up and I get thousand of these messages on console:

pfr_unroute_kentry: delete failed.

I can't force a core dump in this state, but I believe Jan may have had
a related panic.

My pf.conf and the table file are available here:

http://www.theshell.com/~pavalos/wip/pf.tar.xz

the messages pops because rn_delete() returns NULL in pfr_unroute_kentry().

I added some debugging kprintfs to radix.c and as far as I can tell rn_delete
fails at the very beginning because of

line 722 bcmp(key + head_off, tt->rn_key + head_off, klen - head_off))

I don't know yet what the actual problem is here. But after flushing the tables
(pfctl -F Tables) I get a reproducable panic on kldunload pf.

Subject to further investigation.

I think it boils down to rn_u = {rn_leaf = {rn_Key = 0x4 <Address 0x4 out of
bounds>

I have seen that in 3 or 4 different dumps caused by different rn_ function
calls (e.g. rn_match, rn_walktree) as in:

That was a wrong trace :(.. too tired I guess. The part that actually
returns NULL in radix.c is in rn_delete():

/*
 * Delete our route from mask lists.
*/
if (netmask != NULL) {
if ((x = rn_addmask(netmask, TRUE, head_off)) == NULL)
return (NULL);
netmask = x->rn_key;
while (tt->rn_mask != netmask)
if ((tt = tt->rn_dupedkey) == NULL)
return (NULL);
}

I put some kprintfs in radix.c's rn_addroute() and rn_delete(), to maybe
better figure out where it goes wrong. The table loaded in pf is made up
of the 1st 100 lines of Peter's p2p file. The ouput is rather long, so I
am just linkin to a pastie here:

Maybe someone can make any sense from that??

TIA

Jan,

You'll need to print netmask as *((uint32_t *)netmask).

Cheers,
Joe

This actually seems to be an SMP issue. I tried all the same on a UP
VKERNEL and GENERIC with my debugging additions. I can't reproduce any
of the errors or the panics on a UP setup.

I can confirm that the pfctl -ef /etc/pf.conf; pfctl -F Tables cycle now
succeeds without any errors on my SMP VM.

BUT, if I kldunload pf now I get

1 tables deleted.
df386devel# kldunload pf

That does not happen if I do exactly the same but without table <p2p>
