Description

installer hangs on older macbook. ive tried a few different installer settings, including hammer and hammer2. the hang happens at about 90% complete when executing /sbin/newfs_hammer -f -L ROOT /dev/serno/...

sorry i dont have much more helpful information. the usb stick i install from has a light that continues to rapidly flash during the hang. also on one install attempt the installer dropped to debug mode and complained of a NULL pointer assert. sorry i didnt capture that information, and it hasnt happened again

if i dont hear back, i intend to wait another day on this install attempt, just incase it is verrrryyyy slow rather than hung, then try UFS, thanks

Which version did you try to install? The daily snapshot? Which exactly? Or did you use the 6.4.2 installer? Please, try the 6.4.2 installer if you did not. It's always helpful to try different versions and see if they might fix the problem. Thanks

im using the installer dfly-x86_64-6.4.2_REL.img

the "daily SNAPSHOT: here" link at https://www.dragonflybsd.org/download/ didnt seem to have a .iso or .img etc available

ive started a `git clone git://git.dragonflybsd.org/dragonfly.git dragonfly` maybe i can make an .img from the source

You can download daily snapshots from here: https://mirror-master.dragonflybsd.org/snapshots/

that's a lot easier than compiling from source.

thankyou

ive looked all through that directory, and to the best of my ability, the daily snapshots are not there

https://mirror-master.dragonflybsd.org/snapshots/x86_64/images/CHECKSUM.MD5 shows for instance DragonFly-x86_64-20251203-DEV-v6.5.0.1177.gfcabea.img.bz2

but that file does not seem to be present

You're right! The snapshots are gone. We'll try to fix it!
